An AMD-powered gaming PC that’s $200 cheaper than the best RTX 4080 rig, and sometimes faster-

AMD’s fastest bestest GPU ever is pretty much half the price of this full gaming PC from Skytech, especially now there’s $200 off the RX 7900 XTX-powered Skytech Chronos at Newegg for $2,100.

The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is the first graphics card to be powered by AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture and the very first ever to be powered by chiplets. Much like its Ryzen CPUs, the chiplet design should have a massive impact on future generations of Radeon cards. The fact that this first-gen iteration performs as well as it does is something of a miracle considering the advanced new tech inside it.

But perform it does, though that innovative new architecture does mean there are some kinks to work out of the driver stack, and also means that it’s not a 100% consistent competitor to Nvidia’s RTX…

Borderlands movie teaser gives us our first look at Cate Blanchett and the gang in action-

February 21: The first Borderlands movie trailer has now dropped—watch it here.

It’s been nearly 10 years since the Borderlands movie was announced, and it’s still not here yet. But it’s close enough for a trailer to arrive—although that’s not actually here yet either. What is here today is a teaser for a trailer for the movie that will finally hit theaters on August 9.

The teaser is all of 10 seconds long, opening with Cate Blanchett as Lilith firing a gun, followed by Kevin Hart as Roland firing a gun, and then Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis (who in a refreshing change of pace is not firing a gun), and then a quick flash of Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina and Jack Black as Claptrap, although he’s not really identifiab…

Cities- Skylines 2 won’t use Steam Workshop for mod sharing-

This article was updated on October 17 with the latest information from the publisher.

Cities: Skylines was the antidote to 2013’s bungled always-online SimCity reboot. It was a regular old offline, singleplayer game with mod support: hallelujah. From the sounds of it, Cities: Skylines 2 will be just as moddable as the original, but there will be one notable change: You won’t be getting your Cities: Skylines 2 mods on Steam Workshop.

In a post on its forums today, Paradox said that the official mod distribution channel for Cities: Skylines will be Paradox Mods, its custom cross-platform mod library. In a related FAQ, it said that Steam Workshop won’t be supported.

It’s a little disappointing, because Steam Workshop is a pretty darn convenient wa…

I’m immediately sold on this singleplayer extraction FPS with cartoon gore-

After burning out on approximately 17 billion indie roguelikes between the years of 2011 and 2018, I swore to myself that I’d never be swayed again by a procedurally generated dungeon crawler that I’ll never finish. I’m breaking that rule for Sulfur, an upcoming FPS featured in today’s PC Gaming Show that’s incorporating the best parts of extraction games like Hunt: Showdown and Dark and Darker into a singleplayer roguelite. Watch the trailer above.

To be fair, I’d probably play more roguelites these days if they looked this cool. I’m smitten with Sulfur’s flat-shaded environments and enemies that look like they crawled out of a 2010s Cartoon Network show. You could almost mistake it for one of those colloquially-coined “cozy games” that appear by the dozens on Steam, but Sulfur’s…

Star Wars Outlaws needed a speeder because of its ‘fairly vast’ distances-

Star Wars Outlaws, the Star Wars game that will finally let us play a blaster-toting scoundrel who probably thinks a lightsaber is a low-fat cavalry weapon, is being published by Ubisoft. That brings with it certain expectations. Since this isn’t a Rayman game, those expectations include an open world that’s perhaps too big for its own good.

In a recent interview at Comic Con, creative director Julian Gherity explained that open world locations in Outlaws, like the desert moon of Toshara, are so big they needed to give player-character Kay Vess her own speeder to cross them. “There isn’t just this bustling city,” Gherity said, “in Toshara’s case it’s called Mirogana, but there’s all the wilderness outside where the player and Kay—driven by their objectives, but distracted by…

Steam smash hit Content Warning has sold over 700,000 copies after giving away 6 million free copies-

I imagine all game developers get butterflies in their stomachs when they’re about to push their game live, but it’s not often a game previously given away for free suddenly starts asking for money. That was the deal indie studio Landfall made with players when it surprise-released Content Warning on April Fools’ day.

The Lethal Company-like horror game that challenges friends to record scary videos and go viral on SpöökTube would be free to claim for its first 24 hours, after which Landfall would start charging $8. Over six million copies of Content Warning were claimed during the free period, a response that Landfall CEO Wilhelm Nylund tells PC Gamer was “completely unlike anything” they’ve experienced.

Landfall has created its own holiday around making gag games…

The best gaming chair is finally cheaper than Secretlab’s store in Amazon’s Fall Prime Day deals-

It’s a rare thing indeed that a third-party retailer gets to sell a Secretlab gaming chair for less than the direct price from Secretlab itself, but Jeff Amazon has the buying power to secure an exclusive discount. Right now, you can buy the Secretlab Titan Evo for $509 at Amazon, saving $40 on the list price from its creator.

Traditionally, Secretlab will claim a saving from buying direct, and indeed it’s stating that even today, where it claims the non-direct pricing is around the $589 mark because it’s cutting out the “middlemen costs.”

But with a $100 discount coupon available at Amazon, as part of its Big Deal Days promo, you can bring the price down from $609 to that listed $509 price. That’s $40 less than Secretlab, and even with its own $30 discount if you’re a first…
